Bio

Samuel Weinreb is a medical student at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He graduated cum laude from Columbia University in 2017 with a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering and a minor in Psychology. During his time at Columbia, he published on the role of the retinal pigment epithelium in the differentiation of retinal ganglion cells. In June of 2018, he joined the Ultra Low Vision Lab, where he is now working with virtual reality simulations to develop a phosphene mapping protocol for calibration of intracortical visual prosthetics. Sam is also involved in clinical research on glaucoma surgery outcomes at the Wilmer Eye Institute, and recently began a collaboration with an international team of engineering students to develop a novel device for ophthalmic drug delivery.
